There are two email lists to help you keep informed about this web site: the Announcement List and the Users List. You only need to subscribe to one of these lists because we send any Minaret.info announcements to both lists. To receive messages from either of these lists you must sign up first (subscribe). You can remove yourself (unsubscribe) at any time from either list in order to stop receiving these messages.

If you ever need to get in contact with the administrator of either of these lists (if you have trouble unsubscribing, or have questions about the list itself), send email to info@minaret.info.

Announcement List
The Announcement List is used to send out news and updates regarding this site. You don't have to worry about receiving a lot of email from this list as it will be used sparingly and only our staff can post messages. All announcements sent to this list are also sent to the Users List, so you don't need to subscribe to the Announcement List if you are subscribed to the Users List.

Users List
The Users List allows Minaret users and staff to communicate with one another and is the primary way in which this site is supported. If you have a question about this site that is not answered in the online documentation, this list is the best place to come for assistance.

Please note that previous versions of Minaret can not be supported by our staff through the users list. However, there is online documentation which summarizes how to export your MARC data out of a previous version of Minaret in order to upload into this site. If you require any further assistance with earlier versions of Minaret, you will need to purchase support.

You can receive the messages from the Users List in one of two forms: immediately (each posting is sent to you as soon as it is received) or as a daily digest (you receive no more than one email a day containing all of the messages from the previous 24 hours). With the digest you receive fewer emails but the postings could be up to 24 hours old by the time you receive them. You can turn the digest option on and off at any time using the list management link below.

How to Post a Message
After you have subscribed to the Users List, you can send an email message to all of the subscribers of the list by sending it to minaret-users@minaret.info for distribution.

How to Reply to a Posting
If you want to reply to a message that was sent to the list, most email programs provide two options: The "Reply" button will send your response just to the person who sent the current message; whereas the "Reply All" button will send your message to that person as well as to the entire list.

If you want to verify where your email is being sent, check the "To" and "Cc" lines of your message before you press the "Send" button. If any of the recipients includes "minaret-users@minaret.info", the message will be forwarded to everyone on the list (which may not be what you want).

Vacation Messages
If you go on vacation and configure your email system to automatically send out an "I'm out of the office" response to all of your incoming mail, please "disable" your Users List account while your are away. Otherwise, every message that is posted to the list during your absence may result in your automated response to be sent out to everyone as well. See the next section for how to manage your subscription.

Managing Your Subscription
You can modify your Users List account settings with a web browser. If you saved the email message you received when you first subscribed to the Minaret Users List, it will contain a link you can click on to manage your account. If you don't have that handy, visit the main user list access screen at the following web address, input your email address in the last field on that form and press the "Unsubscribe or edit options" button:
